The Bell reported three likely candidates to head the Central Bank

Russian officials and bankers are discussing candidates to replace Central Bank chief Elvira Nabiullina, whose term expires in a year, The Bell writes.

The candidates include:

✹ Maksim Oreshkin, deputy head of the Russian presidential administration,

✹ Promsvyazbank head Pyotr Fradkov, son of former prime minister and Foreign Intelligence Service chief Mikhail Fradkov,

✹ VTB head Andrey Kostin.

“But Kostin doesn’t like the idea, he’s doing just fine as he is, Oreshkin would rather be prime minister, and Fradkov is up for anything. Nabiullina herself wants out, but her feelings are mixed,” a The Bell source says.

This is Nabiullina’s third and, by law, final term.
