The FSB said that a vessel from Belgium arrived at the Russian port of Ust-Luga with sea mines found on its hull

The mines, which were made in "one of the NATO countries," were found by divers during an inspection of the vessel, the Investigative Committee claims. Officers of Russia's FSB, together with the Defense Ministry and the National Guard, defused the explosive devices. The Investigative Committee noted that the mines could not have been planted in Russian territorial waters.

The LNG carrier arrived for loading in Ust-Luga on May 20, and after that it was supposed to head to the port of Samsun in Turkey. During the questioning of the ship's agent, it became known that the vessel had arrived in Russia with a delay of several days.

Investigative authorities opened a criminal case over attempted terrorism and the illegal trafficking of explosive devices.
