Russia’s Foreign Ministry called “provocative” a statement by Armenia’s Security Council secretary that the country “will not hinder” Russians coming to the country to avoid mobilization

This was reported by the official representative of the Russian ministry, Maria Zakharova, at a briefing on August 28.

Earlier, Armenia’s Security Council Secretary Alen Simonyan said on Dozhd’s broadcast that Armenia “will in no way hinder” Russians who want to avoid being sent to the front in the event of mobilization.

“We consider A. R. Simonyan’s statements provocative. In essence, they encourage Russian citizens toward unlawful actions and give traditional Armenian hospitality a toxic political coloring,” Zakharova said.

She did not specify what exactly those unlawful actions were. Zakharova noted that she sees Simonyan’s remarks as “yet another sign of the republic’s authorities striving to curry favor with the West and the Kyiv regime.”

She also called Dozhd’s very question about possible mobilization in Russia “provocatively worded.” In Zakharova’s view, it “dragged” Simonyan into “speculation, inspired by the Ukrainian junta and its Western patrons, about allegedly possible mobilization in our country, repeatedly denied by Russian officials.”
