Maria Zakharova saw a “provocation” and a “toxic tinge” in Armenia’s readiness to take in Russians fleeing mobilization
On August 25, on the air of the TV Rain channel, journalist Ekaterina Kotrikadze asked Security Council Secretary Alen Simonyan whether Armenia was ready to accept a new wave of Russians who want to avoid being sent to the front. He answered in the affirmative.
A statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasizes that such remarks “encourage Russian citizens to commit unlawful acts and give traditional Armenian hospitality a toxic political tinge.”
Zakharova noted that Simonyan fell for a provocative question from a “foreign-agent journalist.” She also stressed that all rumors about an upcoming mobilization were “inspired by the Ukrainian junta and its Western patrons.”
