A Yekaterinburg company has frozen construction of a laptop factory. Instead, it will make school drone-control simulators

According to LIGA Group CEO Alexey Lezhnin, the country’s current economic conditions are not the most favorable for building such a factory.

We see that [domestic] [laptop] manufacturers are not feeling very well in the current economic situation. Right now, most such infrastructure projects have largely been put on hold.

While the factory construction project is frozen, the electronics equipment manufacturer and software developer LIGA Group will focus on creating simulators for controlling unmanned aerial vehicles. They are planned to be installed in Russian schools.

Lezhnin estimated investment in the new project at “tens of millions of rubles.” In his assessment, the company will be able to recoup that within two to three years. LIGA Group promises to release the first version of the software product before the end of the current year.
