Morgenshtern saidthat he was offered a return to Russia if he supported the war — or gave one million dollars
People connected to the Russian authorities offered Alisher Morgenshtern the chance to publicly support the war in exchange for being allowed to return to Russia. The musician spoke about this in an interview with Yuri Dud.
According to Morgenshtern, he himself looked into possible ways of “solving the problem,” and the intermediaries’ condition was a public act: a trip to the occupied territories or a public apology.
The artist says he refused because he does not consider himself guilty and does not want to support the war. In his words, any trip to Donbas is a political statement: “Nobody goes there just like that.”
Morgenshtern added that there was also an option to “pay and do nothing.” The intermediaries promised they could reach an agreement with the authorities for one million dollars.
