Murder charges against Ilya Traber’s business partner Vladimir Danilenko were also dropped in the case of Alexander Petrov’s killing

Today he was released from the Matrosskaya Tishina pretrial detention center in Moscow, Fontanka writes.

One of RBC’s sources said that the investigator’s order canceled the preventive measure.

🔵Ilya Traber is a St. Petersburg businessman whom Spanish prosecutors described as one of the leaders of the Tambov organized crime group. In the 1990s he was linked to major assets in St. Petersburg, including the seaport, an oil terminal, and fuel companies. While working at city hall, Putin signed decrees that benefited Sovex and PTK, companies connected to Traber’s circle. The Kremlin denied any direct connection between Putin and Traber.

Traber was detained on June 17 by FSB officers. He was charged with the murder of a lawmaker in 2020 and placed under arrest. Earlier, Fontanka reported that the case against Traber is based on testimony from his former driver, who returned from captivity.

At the end of August, Traber was released from pretrial detention. At the time, the outlet wrote that he had been freed due to a sharp deterioration in his health, and that the charges had by then been dropped. Fontanka writes that Traber has already held a number of meetings with officials and businessmen from Moscow and St. Petersburg.
