"Under the current circumstances, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are beginning to carry out systematic strikes on defense industry enterprises in Kyiv . Strikes will also be carried out against decision-making centers and command posts.
Since the above-mentioned facilities are dispersed throughout Kyiv, we warn foreign nationals, the staff of diplomatic missions, and representatives of international organizations that they should leave the city as soon as possible, and residents of the Ukrainian capital should stay away from military and administrative infrastructure facilities," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
With this statement they are:
1) absolving themselves of responsibility for strikes on civilians and diplomatic missions;
2) using the strike on Starobilsk to justify subsequent strikes on civilians;
3) threatening unprecedented bombardments, as if they had not bombed anything before this.
What is there to say here.
1. Unfortunately, they were not being held responsible anyway, simply because no one is able to bring them to account, all international bodies are broken and do not work. The only ones holding them accountable are the Armed Forces of Ukraine, by destroying them on the battlefield and striking targets in the rear. Unfortunately, no other way of holding them accountable exists.
2. Starobilsk has nothing to do with this at all, it was simply used as a pretext, and they never actually needed a real pretext (even though, apparently, there really was a drone operator school there where active-duty military personnel were being trained). The fucked-up horror they unleashed on May 5 in Zaporizhzhia, Kramatorsk, Dnipro, and Poltava (26 dead) happened BEFORE Starobilsk. The fucked-up horror they unleashed in Kyiv on May 14 (24 dead) happened BEFORE Starobilsk. They threatened strikes on decision-making centers BEFORE the parade. They called on diplomats to leave Kyiv even BEFORE the parade. They were counting on using the parade as a pretext. That did not work out. They used Starobilsk.
3. There will be no unprecedented bombardments. No, I am not downplaying the threat, strikes like the one on May 24 will continue (possibly not with the same intensity). But even as it was, on average once every 10 days they were carrying out some kind of fucked-up mass killing of civilians. And their ability to carry out that kind of fucked-up horror depends on the number of missiles and drones they have, and that number is not increasing dramatically.
So yes, the bastards will keep going brutal. Everyone in Ukraine, and in Kyiv in particular, absolutely needs to protect themselves. But globally, they have not acquired any new means, methods, tactics, or anything else that they had not previously resorted to.
A thought is creeping in that lately they have been looking for some method that could lead to Ukraine's quick capitulation: in winter they bombed the energy sector, now they have decided to bomb Kyiv to pieces. Whereas Ukraine long ago realized that no such method exists and is methodically doing its job: increasing Russian losses, smashing logistics, burning down the oil sector.
I repeat, I do not know how things will go дальше, but the Russian Federation's results at the front in May are the lowest in the past two years, mathematically close to zero. And the front determines everything else.
Kyiv Gets Its Alibi Before Strikes
Russia's Foreign Ministry told diplomats to leave Kyiv before strikes on dispersed targets.
Responsibility arrived as a warning notice again.
