The head of the FSB accused Western countries of creating “digital laboratories” to “manipulate the population” in CIS countries

Director of the FSB Alexander Bortnikov said this at a meeting of the council of heads of intelligence services of CIS countries.

According to him, the “Western intelligence community” is engaged in creating a “network of digital laboratories” in the CIS, whose tasks “include collecting and studying, with the help of artificial intelligence technologies, typical behavioral profiles of the population, identifying points of tension in society, and modeling social reactions to various external factors, including the actions of government authorities.”

Bortnikov said that this amounts to “introducing within the CIS tools for manipulative influence on the moods and behavior of citizens.”

In addition, he called the killing of members of Iran’s leadership through obtaining their coordinates “via software ‘implants’ in video monitoring systems in Tehran” an “alarming signal.”

Bortnikov also accused NATO countries of creating “selective-action biological weapons” in the Asia-Pacific region, Africa, and Latin America, and of operating “biolabs” in CIS countries.
