Rodina in Pskov Region Will Not Be Removed from the Election Despite Expert Review Failing to Confirm Authenticity of Signatures on Documents
Rodina in Pskov Region will not be removed from the election, despite the fact that an expert review could not confirm the authenticity of the signatures on the documents
A court in Pskov rejected Yabloko’s lawsuit seeking to cancel the registration of Rodina’s party list for the regional Legislative Assembly, the party’s press service said.
Earlier, the Yabloko party asked for a handwriting examination because it suspected forged signatures in Rodina’s documents. In the end, an expert from the regional Interior Ministry could neither confirm nor refute that the signatures had been forged. The expert said she “cannot rule out the possibility that the signatories used several variants of their signature,” and also added that a signature can change under the influence of some “unusual” conditions.
🔵At the same time, on August 25, the same court in Pskov decided to remove Yabloko’s list from the regional parliament at Rodina’s request solely on the grounds that the first version of the power of attorney for the financial representative in the document package submitted for list certification did not bear a seal impression, because of which the court considered the document not to have been submitted.
🔵Pskov Yabloko noted that not a single Rodina candidate, even those living in Pskov Region, appeared in court, and not one person came to support the party. Rodina was represented by lawyer Igor Kulakov, who had previously repeatedly taken part in cases seeking the removal of Yabloko candidates on behalf of other parties.

Questioned Signatures, Very Flexible Standards
The signatures stayed unverified, but the party list stayed on the ballot.
The seal was apparently the stricter test.
