Ukraine officially warned the International Civil Aviation Association about the “unsafety of Russian skies”
In a letter from Infrastructure Minister Mykola Kalashnyk to the ICAO secretary general, it says that Ukraine closed its airspace back in February 2022, while Russia disregarded the risks, and this led to a number of air disasters.
Kalashnyk urged “aviation authorities, air navigation service providers, and airlines” operating in Russia to be prompted to take measures to ensure civil aviation safety. This includes, among other things, a complete ban on flights over Russia for ICAO member states.
