For several years, the authorities had been moving toward adopting a law that would allow them to seize Russian property belonging to their critics living abroad.

And now the final list of offenses that can lead to such punishment has finally been finalized. It is very broad.

You can lose the right to carry out transactions involving your apartment or house, in particular:

✹ for “discrediting” the army,

✹ for distributing “indecent” information (whatever that means) about government bodies,

✹ for “extremist” activity,

✹ for involvement with organizations deemed “undesirable” (in the authorities’ view).

Moreover, the deputies explicitly specified that property seizure can result from an unpaid fine of any amount, even as little as 10,000 rubles.
