State Duma Vice Speaker called the VAT increase and the ban on foreign-language signs "cool laws" that improved Russians' lives
Pyotr Tolstoy said this before televised debates, answering a question from Saratov Communist Party deputy Nikolai Bondarenko. Bondarenko asked him to give examples of several "cool" laws that improved citizens' situation.
"These are all amendments to the Tax Code. The VAT increase helped the country, because from these taxes people get restored schools, fire stations, and ambulances," Tolstoy replied.
He also noted that healthcare reform improved Russians' lives.
"Third, for example, there is the law that all our signs, all names, must be in the Russian language. People did not become richer, but at least we stopped feeling like a colony," the State Duma vice speaker added.
