The State Duma has passed a law that makes it possible to hold Russians administratively liable for actions committed outside the country if the authorities deem them to be directed "against Russia’s interests."

🔶The law covers articles on "discrediting" the army, cooperation with "undesirable" organizations, violations of the rules for "foreign agents," and a number of others.

"People were buying tickets, not cheap ones, but many of them, from admiration and applause, apparently lost not only their heads but also their conscience. They left the country and insult our defenders and officers. In relation to such people, the court will now have the ability to impose seizure of property located in Russia. Citizens not only asked for this, they demanded it," State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin commented on the law

🔶The main innovation is the ability to seize property even before a fine is imposed. If a report is drawn up against a person, their assets in Russia may be frozen as an interim measure.

🔶In addition, the participation of a court-appointed lawyer will become mandatory for such cases. Also, the owner’s signature will no longer be required for the seizure of property and documents if the owner is abroad.

1️⃣ In effect, for the first time the law directly establishes the possibility of prosecuting Russians for administrative offenses committed abroad, and also allows their property in Russia to be blocked in advance even before a court ruling.
