Moniava was banned for two months from going outside from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m., communicating with witnesses in the case, and using social media. This was reported by Novaya Gazeta.

The day before, the founder of the House with a Lighthouse foundation was charged with spreading “fake news” about the Russian army. The grounds for the prosecution were a post published on Moniava’s Telegram channel on February 24, 2023, on the first anniversary of the war. In it, she wrote: “For a year now, my country has been sending missiles, tanks, and soldiers into Ukraine. For a year now, innocent people have been dying because of this.”

The maximum punishment the charity worker faces is 10 years in prison. She did not admit guilt.

Around 300 people came to the courthouse building to support Moniava. All of them were removed from the courthouse grounds.

What Lida Moniava is known for

Moniava is the founder of the charitable foundation House with a Lighthouse. It helps seriously ill children and young adults up to age 30 receive palliative and rehabilitation care.

After the start of the full-scale war, she also created a refugee aid fund, which suspended its work in September 2025.

Moniava had previously already been prosecuted over posts as well: in February 2026, she was fined 45,000 rubles under the article on “discrediting” the army.
