The Justice Ministry added more than a hundred people to the list of those “affiliated” with Novaya Gazeta

This is reported on the ministry’s website.

Among them are journalists Elena Milashina, Zoya Svetova, Ilya Azar, and Andrei Kolesnikov, former editor-in-chief Dmitry Muratov, Yabloko chairman Nikolai Rybakov, and politicians Lev Shlosberg and Boris Vishnevsky. Some of the people on the list had already previously been designated as “foreign agents” by the Justice Ministry.

Those “affiliated” are not subject to the restrictions and prohibitions established for “foreign agents.” At the same time, such persons face additional requirements, for example when taking part in elections: such a candidate must indicate their status in campaign materials and signature sheets.

In addition, if a “foreign agent” violates the relevant legal requirements, liability for such violations may in some cases also extend to persons “affiliated” with them.

🔵Novaya Gazeta was added to the list of “foreign agents” on the evening of September 4.
