On May 26, Secretary of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War Dmytro Usov held a meeting with Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and her team.
"As of May 2026, the personal data of 2,871 citizens of Belarus who signed contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense have been identified. In at least 440 of those cases, it is known that they were killed or went missing. Through the 'I Want to Find' chatbot, 520 requests have been received regarding missing persons whose nationality is listed as Belarusian," Dmytro Usov said.
As part of the visit, members of the delegation were able to speak with Belarusian citizens taken prisoner of war who had participated in combat on Russia's side. According to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, their participation does not reflect the position of a significant part of Belarusian society. The opposition continues its efforts aimed at preventing Belarus from being drawn into a full-scale war. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya also thanked the Coordination Headquarters for its role in securing the release of Belarusian political prisoners in December 2025.
