A large-scale data leak from state registries has occurred in Lithuania

Lithuania’s Prosecutor General’s Office has launched an investigation into unauthorized access to state information systems — in total, more than 600,000 registry records may have been illegally compromised.

The main targets of the attack were data from the Real Estate Register and the Register of Legal Entities. The agency believes the breaches of the state registry were carried out from abroad.

Delfi specifies that personal data was leaked: first name, last name, personal identification code, unique real estate number, address, property rights data, grounds for registration, and document number.

According to the outlet, some citizens’ data was copied as early as January, and Delfi’s sources say the illegal connections were made through the Migration Department.

🔹Opposition conservative party leader Laurynas Kasciunas said that the GRU may be behind the data theft operation.

According to him, the stolen files may contain data on Lithuanian intelligence officers, military personnel, politicians, and civil servants, as well as other individuals and legal entities.

In addition, Lithuania’s prime minister said that data about her family was stolen in the leak, Delfi wrote.
