Zelensky Wrote to Trump and Asked Him to Protect Ukraine's Sky From Russian Missiles

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sent a letter to U.S. President Donald Trump and the U.S. Congress saying that there is a shortage of air defense systems, reports Kyiv Independent. The text of the letter was published by Axios journalist Barak Ravid.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine has achieved significant success in defending against drones, but still cannot produce its own missile defense systems.

"When it comes to air defense against missiles, we rely on our friends and partners around the world. And when it comes to protection against ballistic missiles, we rely almost exclusively on the United States," Zelensky said.

He noted that Patriot systems "remain the most effective defense against all types of Russian ballistic missiles."

Zelensky added that the current pace of arms deliveries under the PURL program "no longer corresponds to the reality of the threat we face."

PURL is a NATO initiative to purchase American weapons for Ukraine with money from European countries.
