❗️In Hungary’s parliamentary elections, according to preliminary data, the opposition Tisza party is leading. Orban’s party is in second place

Hungary’s National Election Office has published the first voting results from the country’s parliamentary elections.

After 6.56% of the data has been processed, the Tisza party of opposition politician Peter Magyar is in the lead and could receive 110 seats in the 199-seat parliament.

Second place belongs to Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s Fidesz party, which, according to preliminary information, has 71 seats.

In addition, the far-right Our Homeland may claim nine seats.

At the same time, after 2.86% of the data on party voting has been processed, Fidesz is leading with 48%, followed by Tisza with 43%.

These are preliminary results, and the figures may change as the count continues.

Hungary has a complex system for counting votes in elections. Most deputies, 106 out of 199, are elected in single-member districts by a relative majority of votes.

Another 93 seats are distributed among parties that have crossed the five-percent electoral threshold. These mandates, however, are not distributed proportionally, but with a fairly complex system of compensation votes taken into account.
