Russia’s energy minister said the agreement on duty-free supplies of oil and gas to Armenia will be terminated only if “they move from the Eurasian Economic Union to the EU”

Sergei Tsivilev said this to reporters during a visit to Astana. He confirmed that he had written a notice to Armenia’s Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, but so far has not received a response.

“I wrote to my colleague so that everyone would know in advance how events will unfold further. That if they move from the Eurasian Economic Union to the EU, we will not be able to supply them at the price at which we supply them now. I believe that when the Armenian people make this decision, they should understand these economic aspects. The sole purpose of this letter was that. Because we have always regarded the Armenian people as a brotherly people, and they should know in advance the consequences that may occur in that case,” he said.

🔵That Russia may suspend or unilaterally denounce the agreement on supplies of gas, fuel, and diamonds to the republic if Yerevan continues the process of joining the European Union follows from Tsivilev’s letter to Armenia’s Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, which Kommersant reviewed.
