Putin’s rating according to VTsIOM has started falling again

VTsIOM reported that the approval rating for the Russian president’s performance from May 18 to 24 was 67.5% — this figure fell by 1.9 percentage points over the week.

The share of those who do not approve of Vladimir Putin’s work rose by 1 percentage point, to 20.9%.

Trust in Putin was almost unchanged over the week, declining by 0.1 percentage points to 73.7%. Distrust in the president fell by 0.6 percentage points and amounted to 20.6%.

Putin’s ratings fell after two weeks. Before that, VTsIOM had recorded growth in the president’s approval rating. This began after pollsters started not only calling respondents, but also coming to their homes to find out their attitude toward Putin. Before that, approval of Putin’s performance had been declining since early March.
