Hungary’s Foreign Ministry explained that the employees of the Russian diplomatic mission “were engaged in activities unacceptable from the point of view of the Vienna Convention.”
“This decision was made to protect Hungary’s security and sovereignty. It does not mean a severing of diplomatic relations with Russia. Hungary intends to continue the necessary dialogue based on mutual respect and commitment to the rules,” said the head of the ministry, Anita Orban.
Zakharova threatened Hungary with a “harsh and painful” response.
