Volodymyr Zelensky’s plane was nearly hit by a drone while taking off from Chișinău for Oslo, according to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

There are few details:

▪️Yesterday, the Ukrainian president was flying from Chișinău to Oslo for the funeral of Norway’s King Harald V. The departure was delayed because of the threat of drones in Moldovan airspace.

▪️After the delay, Zelensky’s plane did finally take off at 16:58 (map 1), but according to Støre, the aircraft faced danger during takeoff and was nearly hit by a drone. It is still unknown how close the drone came to the plane.

▪️At 19:49, Zelensky’s plane landed safely in Oslo (photo 2), and Zelensky took part in the ceremony (photo 3).

▪️Norway’s finance minister and former NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg confirmed the threat:

"I will not go into details, but the departure was delayed and there were some threats to the plane. There were some problems with the departure, but leaving Ukraine is always not easy," Stoltenberg said.

That is basically all for now.

This is not the first time Russia has created a threat to a high-ranking official: on September 1, 2025, Ursula von der Leyen’s plane was subjected to GPS jamming during its approach to landing in Bulgaria, and the pilots landed the aircraft using paper maps.

As a reminder, Zelensky previously flew abroad from NATO’s military hub in Rzeszów, Poland. But against the backdrop of the conflict with President Nawrocki, Zelensky began flying abroad from Chișinău in June.

Drone Threat Reaches The Runway

Zelensky's plane was delayed in Chisinau over a drone threat.

Safety came down to taking off anyway.
