Ozon banned minors from working in warehouses after a deaf teenager died in Belgorod

Marketplace Ozon has banned minors from working in warehouses in at least four Russian cities amid drone attacks on the company’s facilities, Verstka found.

The cities in question are Belgorod, Kursk, Bryansk, and Ufa. Employees under 18 from these cities are complaining in specialized chats that they are unable to take shifts.

In a chat dedicated to work at the warehouse in Ufa, teenagers are also asking when they will again be able to sign up for shifts. Other employees reply that, according to their information, such slots will be restricted “for an indefinite period.”

Employees told Verstka that Ozon Job support confirmed the restrictions in response to their questions. According to the operator, the situation will not affect a worker’s rating.

“Since August 27 in Ufa, and since September 1 in Belgorod, Kursk, and Bryansk, there has been no technical possibility for underage users to sign up for new slots. Existing bookings will also be canceled, so we ask you not to come to the site,” the support service message says.

💜An August 30 strike by the Ukrainian Armed Forces damaged an Ozon sorting center and delivery hub in Belgorod. Two people were killed as a result, including a 16-year-old deaf teenager who had been working part-time at the facility during the holidays.
