Against this backdrop, Armenia began to look more actively for foreign policy alternatives: developing dialogue with the EU, receiving European observers, discussing deeper relations with Brussels, and gradually reducing dependence on structures dominated by Russia.

From Yerevan’s point of view, this is not a “turn against Russia,” but an attempt to ensure its own security, sovereignty, and room for maneuver after the painful experience of recent years.
