The Interior Ministry has advised people not to click links outside the “national domain zone of the Russian Federation” (.ru), or URLs that “show signs of disguising the real address,” TASS reports.

According to the agency, the Interior Ministry’s press center issued the recommendations in response to a “relevant request” from TASS. The ministry also urged caution with links that “imitate the official web version of a messenger,” without specifying which services it meant.

The Interior Ministry says following links outside Russia’s domain zone may lead to Russians’ devices being infected with “malicious software that gives fraudsters access.”

Non-.ru Links Declared Suspicious

The internet has once again shrunk to the size of a departmental memo.
