Alcohol interlocks may be introduced for cars in Russia
The development of systems that block a car engine from starting if alcohol vapors are present in the driver’s breath is предусмотрена in the government-approved plan for implementing the Road Safety Improvement Strategy through 2030 and in the outlook through 2036, RBC reports.
The document states that criteria are to be defined for the use of such systems or devices, which are also called alcohol interlocks.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade, Rosstandart, the Ministry of Transport, the Interior Ministry, and the Ministry of Digital Development were designated as responsible for implementing the project.
