Rostov artist sent to pretrial detention on treason charges after three months of “carousel arrests”

63-year-old Viktor Kirman was placed in custody in Rostov-on-Don. His daughter Nelli Kirman told OVD-Info this.

🟧 The artist will be held in Rostov’s SIZO-4, which is controlled by the FSB.

🟧 Kirman’s wife told her daughter that she saw him beaten before the arrest: “His whole head was yellow, his face was covered in bruises.” He had hematomas, bruising around his eyes, especially on the right side of his face. In addition, his clothes were dirty.

🟧 According to the artist, security forces beat him on May 25. They demanded that he sign certain papers and confess that he had transferred money to Ukraine.

🟧 Nelli Kirman says the investigation is emphasizing the fact that her father has relatives in Ukraine. Both of his daughters live there, among others. The artist was born in Kirovohrad Oblast, but for the last 40 years had lived permanently in Rostov-on-Don, Nelli Kirman notes.

🟧 The artist does not admit guilt in the treason case.

Kirman was detained on February 26. After that, he was arrested nine times on administrative charges under various pretexts. During the “carousel arrests,” he told relatives about torture.
