Romania to close Russia’s consulate general in Constanța after drone hit residential building, consul general declared persona non grata

Romanian President Nicușor Dan announced this following a meeting of the country’s Supreme Council of National Defense, Europa FM reports.

“Last evening, a serious incident occurred in which two Romanian citizens were injured, and full responsibility for this incident lies with Russia, a country that has been waging an aggressive war against Ukraine for more than four years. In connection with this situation, the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Constanța has been declared persona non grata, and the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Constanța will be closed,” he said.

🔵Russia’s main diplomatic mission in Romania is located in Bucharest; in Constanța there is only a consular section.
