EAEU leaders called for a referendum in Armenia on membership in the EU or remaining in the EAEU
This follows from a joint statement by Putin, Lukashenko, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
"We share the position on the need to hold, in the Republic of Armenia and as soon as possible, a nationwide referendum on joining the European Union or continuing to remain part of the Eurasian Economic Union," the statement on the Kremlin website says.
The document emphasizes that Yerevan's preparations to join the EU create risks for the economic security of the EAEU states and could harm the countries of the bloc.
Bloc Tests Loyalty by Ballot Box
EAEU leaders told Armenia to choose the EU or the bloc.
An economic union again survives on warnings.
