“After long and difficult political work, we agreed on an election strategy among the main political and media forces opposing Putin,” Maxim Katz wrote in the announcement for the video “How to Vote Against United Russia. The Joint List of Navalnaya and Katz.”

In the video, Maxim Katz and Yulia Navalnaya presented a website with profiles of candidates in every district, where Maxim Katz “wrote how he would vote there and why.” According to the politician, more than three thousand pieces of feedback sent by supporters were taken into account while preparing the materials for the site.

Navalnaya and Katz advise choosing any systemic party that clears the 5% threshold in the party-list part of the vote in order to reduce United Russia’s final share. Katz notes, however, that he himself is choosing New People as the only party on the ballot that “doesn’t have the letter Z right on its forehead.”

This year we worked on the list of recommendations not alone, but together with Maxim Katz’s team. It was not an easy search for compromise. And the final list is probably not entirely one we like, and not entirely one our colleagues like. And that is what politics is: looking for compromise and sitting down at the negotiating table.
