Lithuania’s president said that the drone shot down over the country was Russian. It was flying to Ukraine and veered off course

The drone in question was shot down by NATO fighter jets over Lithuania on the night of September 15.

According to preliminary information, it was supposed to attack Ukraine but deviated from its course under the influence of Ukrainian electronic warfare systems, which caused it to end up over Lithuanian territory, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said.

“Unfortunately, there may be more such incidents in the future. Because of our geographical position, Vilnius is not far from the border, and, of course, after detecting such objects, we could and should have the means to destroy drones or other aircraft,” Nauseda said.
