In Pskov region, a Ukrainian citizen was sentenced to 8.5 years for “providing assistance to the enemy”
This is the first known sentence of this kind in Russia, writes Mediazona.
Article 276.1 was added to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation at the end of 2024. The minimum punishment under it is 10 years in prison. Why a shorter term was imposed is unknown.
In addition to the prison term, the Ukrainian citizen also received a fine of half a million rubles. According to investigators, he transferred money “to funds providing support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.” His phone, “used in the process of committing the crime,” was confiscated as state revenue.
The court did not disclose his name, stating only that he was born in 1999 and lived and worked in Russia. According to Mediazona, the sentence was handed down to 26-year-old Anton Demidenko. He had been held in a pre-trial detention center since July 2025.
