Sales of brilliant green and iodine will be restricted in Tyumen during the elections

Pharmacies in Tyumen have “received recommendations” not to sell iodine and brilliant green in large quantities on election days, local outlet E1.Ru reports.

“Police officers came to us and said that from September 18 to 20 we should not sell iodine, brilliant green, or other dyes. Some of our colleagues were told not to sell five or more of these products at a time,” the outlet quotes one local pharmacist as saying.

The outlet’s sources say police, based on “the experience of past elections, decided to warn against possible provocations.”

🔵During the 2024 elections, there were incidents in which ballot boxes were damaged with coloring substances, including brilliant green. Ella Pamfilova said at the time that the damage to ballots had supposedly caused a “storm of outrage” among Russians and led to an increase in the number of voters.

A Moscow resident who poured brilliant green into a ballot box in 2024 was sentenced to one year in a settlement colony and released in the courtroom.
