Russian authorities will spend more than 160 billion rubles on exhibitions of achievements from Vladimir Putin’s era

For the third year now, the Kremlin and the regions have been building a network of national “Russia” centers — venues for forums and exhibitions that showcase the achievements of Vladimir Putin’s era. They have already spent, and still plan to spend, at least 162 billion rubles on this, “Vyorstka” calculated.

The network of centers grew out of the “Russia” campaign exhibition-forum at VDNKh, on which at least 17.8 billion rubles from the budget were spent in 2023-2024. The project was declared a success, and Putin instructed the same team to create a network of national “Russia” centers.

At least 114 billion rubles in total has already been spent on the capital’s “Russia” center or will still be allocated for it. Most of the sum — 80 billion rubles — is the cost of constructing a new center building in Moscow City.

The already opened branches of the center in Vladivostok, Krasnoyarsk, and Khanty-Mansiysk cost 5.6 billion rubles. This year, centers are planned to open in Ryazan for 3 billion and in annexed Sevastopol for 1 billion, “Vyorstka” calculated. Another 20 billion rubles is planned to be spent on a center in Kaliningrad.

Most of the costs for the network of centers have fallen on the capital and regional budgets. For example, Ryazan authorities are spending billions on their branch against the backdrop of a budget deficit and missed deadlines for building schools and medical facilities.
