“I had heard that he could be aggressive, but it seemed there was no particular cruelty”

Together with researchers from University of Helsinki, journalists from «Vyorstka» analyzed nearly 6,000 court rulings in cases involving violence against children.

Cases in which strangers attack children and teenagers happen in Russia not infrequently and provoke public condemnation. But, as «Vyorstka»’s research shows, a large number of children suffer every day from “domestic,” everyday violence.

Domestic violence does not provoke a sharp reaction from society or the state, even though this particular form of violence against children is the most widespread.

«Vyorstka» compiled several cases from court statistics. Read more about the results of the study in the special project on the website (with VPN):

The Most Common Violence Stayed Domestic

Nearly 6,000 court rulings showed children more often face violence at home.

The state noticed and stayed unbothered.
