Sixty-four opposition candidates have been removed from State Duma and legislative assembly elections, Verstka reports
The outlet reached this conclusion after studying publications in the media and on social networks, as well as court decisions.
Thirty-five single-mandate district candidates opposed to United Russia were removed from elections over “extremist symbols,” 20 of them over posts about Alexei Navalny or organizations linked to him.
Another 14 candidates had their registrations canceled because of copyright violations or problems with documents.
At least 42 Yabloko candidates and 11 Communist Party candidates were not admitted to the elections. In eight cases, restrictions affected representatives of the parties Rodina, A Just Russia, LDPR, and New People.
