A broken flash drive, too much walking, and reports every two hours. How the elections began

Three days of voting have begun in Russia. Here is what is happening at polling stations in the first hours.

Observers are not being allowed into polling stations

🟠 In Solnechnogorsk near Moscow, about 70 Communist Party observers were unable to begin work; one of them was told the reason for being denied access was a “broken flash drive.”

🟠 In Moscow, a Communist Party observer was removed from precinct election commission No. 2052 with police involvement. According to State Duma candidate Vera Ganzya, the reason was that he “walks around the polling station too much.”

🟠 In St. Petersburg, more than 250 of Yabloko’s 430 observers were unable to begin work. In Leningrad Region, the Communist Party reported that another 279 observers were denied access.

Public-sector workers are being forced to vote and report turnout

🟠 In Yakutsk, teachers are being asked every two hours to report whether students’ parents have voted. The school employees themselves, they say, are being asked to vote specifically on September 18.

🟠 In Mytishchi, a voter said that after voting he had to send his employer his geolocation to confirm turnout at the required polling station. At another polling station, a line formed of employees from Mytishchinskaya Teploset and Vodokanal.

🟠 In Irkutsk Region, Krasnoyarsk Krai, and Bashkortostan, there are reports of lines of public-sector workers. In some cases, according to 7×7, people were brought to polling stations by bus.

🟠 In Altai Krai, according to deputy Maria Prusakova, public-sector workers are being forced to vote electronically and are being told specific candidates.
