In yesterday's publication, we released the first part of the list of students from Russian universities who were recruited by the Russian Ministry of Defense for the war while they were still studying.

Journalists from independent media outlets have already managed to track down some of the people on the list.

ASTRA spoke with the mothers of two people from the list. They confirmed the information about their sons. Four more families indirectly confirmed some of the details but refused to speak further, including with a promise to record and pass their conversation with the ASTRA journalist to the Ministry of Defense.

“Yes, he signed a contract. It was... When was it... In January. I don't know what's going on... He hasn't been in touch for a week now. They keep moving him from one place to another and another. And wherever he is, I'm constantly transferring money for something there. His salary comes in. But it turns out that sometimes they need money for tools, for some vehicles, or for something else. And he says: \"Mom, I need you to transfer it\". From January to March he was in Chebarkul. And once he got to Rostov, that's when all these transfers started,” the student's mother said.

Journalist Yekaterina Fomina from TV Rain managed to confirm at least one surname on the list and speak with the mother of a recruited student.

He very rarely gets in touch. Our text messages don't go through to him, and our calls don't go through either. When he can, he calls himself. As soon as you start asking what exactly he is doing, there is immediately hissing on the phone and the call gets cut off.

At first he called more often, and he himself said: “Mom, they promised a lot, but in reality none of that is there.” He bought his uniform at his own expense, bought spare parts for drones, bought those first-aid kits for himself.

One time he said: “So basically, I sold myself for 2.5 million.”

In the near future, we will publish another part of the list of young men whom the Russian Ministry of Defense managed to recruit to the front with promises of UAV service.
