The State Duma approved a mechanism to curb the rise in diesel fuel prices. To do this, the authorities will subsidize importers

The State Duma approved, in both the second and third readings at once, a law extending the damping mechanism to diesel fuel imports.

Oil companies will be compensated from the budget for the difference between export prices and domestic market prices. Previously, the same mechanism had already been adopted for gasoline imports.

Special terms, the law says, are предусмотрены for diesel imports from Belarus — the compensation coefficient for such supplies has been increased to 0.9.

The damper will be applied if bans on diesel exports from Russia are in effect.
