The Federal Protective Service has decided to establish a security zone around the Kremlin gas station in Moscow. Tourists and “ground-based unmanned vehicles” will be banned there

The Federal Protective Service (FSO) has proposed establishing a security zone around the Kremlin gas station on Volkhonka Street in Moscow. This is stated in the agency’s draft order published on July 21, which was spotted by “Verstka.”

According to the document, the total area of the protected zone will amount to 6,400 square meters. The address of the site is Volkhonka, property 16, 300 meters from the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.

A number of bans are being introduced within the boundaries of the protected zone. These include tourism activity, the organization of mass recreation areas, the use of aerial and ground-based unmanned vehicles, the holding of mass events, as well as the operation of shooting ranges and trade.

The reason for establishing the security zone is not explained. The FSO did not publish an explanatory note to the draft order.

🟦The Kremlin gas station on Volkhonka is one of the oldest operating filling stations in Moscow and the only one within the Boulevard Ring. Government vehicles are serviced there.

🟦One review on Yandex Maps, published on August 13, 2025, says that FSO employees refuel at the Kremlin gas station. Another female user of the service wrote on July 4, 2026, that amid the fuel crisis, “small lines of strings of cars are forming” at this gas station.
