The Digital Development Ministry may introduce age verification on websites. The ministry is drawing on Roblox's experience — the platform is blocked in Russia
This was stated by ministry head Maksut Shadaev at an IT breakfast held as part of SPIEF 2026, Interfax reports. According to him, this is a matter for the "immediate agenda."
"Overall, I think the immediate agenda now is still the question of embedding age verification mechanisms into platforms. This issue will definitely confront us," he noted.
Shadaev added that the Digital Development Ministry is, in particular, studying the experience of the online gaming platform Roblox in introducing age verification. In Russia, it is blocked by Roskomnadzor.
