In Kazakhstan, they decided not to open a mercenarism case against Nurlan Saburov

Kazakhstan's National Security Committee (KNB) found no "signs of an offense" in the actions of comedian Nurlan Saburov. Tengrinews reported this, citing the agency's response.

"We inform you that as a result of verification measures, no signs of an offense were identified," the KNB said.

The review of Saburov under the article on mercenarism began in February 2026 after Kazakh activist Marat Turymbetov sent prosecutors a video in which Saburov hands over ten motorcycles to the Legion Wagner Istra unit. The mercenarism article of Kazakhstan's criminal code provides for seven to 12 years in prison.
