Ivan Filippov, writer and author of the Telegram channel “All Quiet on the Zzzzz Western Front”, spoke on TV Rain about the Z community’s reaction to Victoria Bonya’s video address to Putin, which has already gained over 23 million views and more than 1.2 million likes.

Filippov said that Bonya was attacked by the most popular Z-author, Yuri Podolyaka, who runs the only Z Telegram channel with nearly 3 million subscribers:

He wrote a huge, very detailed text claiming that Victoria Bonya is the new Navalny, that the West pays her, and that she is deliberately destabilizing the situation in Russia.

According to him, Bonya is “a developing story whose ending has not yet come—and it may turn out to be interesting.”

He also noted that it is interesting to watch how the Z community is trying to process her speech. Their first conclusion: sending Podolyaka to fight Bonya is pointless, because the worlds of Instagram and military Telegram do not overlap at all.

The Z community was also very impressed by the fact that her video has already surpassed 23 million views:

Impressed by this, they asked several questions.

First: if Victoria Bonya gets view counts that no military channel can even dream of, this clearly reflects the priorities of citizens—that Bonya is interesting to them, while the war happening somewhere far away is not interesting at all. This conclusion upset them greatly.

The second conclusion upset them even more. They asked: who will respond to her? Instagram was banned at the start of the war and then forgotten. There is not a single Z-scale speaker there who could respond. The topic does not exist there at all. They say this is an entire media field that the Russian authorities have lost.

And they are very afraid of this, because beyond the view counts, they also read the comments. And that, by the way, is something I highly recommend—there’s even more interesting material there.
