Anarchist Azat Miftakhov Transferred to a Penal Colony Beyond the Arctic Circle
The mathematician was transferred to Correctional Colony No. 18 in the settlement of Kharp in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
He has been in this colony since April 21. Miftakhov remains in the quarantine unit for now.
Electronic letter delivery services do not work at IK-18. Only paper letters can be sent there.
Before this, Miftakhov was serving his sentence in the Dimitrovgrad prison.
The Prosecution of Azat Miftakhov
In March 2024, the anarchist was convicted in a second criminal case. He was sentenced to four years in prison under the article on justifying terrorism. Miftakhov was accused of approving the actions of Mikhail Zhlobitsky in a conversation with other prisoners; Zhlobitsky carried out an explosion at the FSB office in Arkhangelsk. According to the anarchist, Zhlobitsky was not mentioned at all; instead, he and the other prisoners were discussing a Channel One report about Bakhmut.
According to the second sentence, Miftakhov was to serve two and a half years in prison, with the remainder of the term in a strict-regime penal colony.
The anarchist was detained in the second criminal case immediately after the end of his sentence in the first one. In that case, he had been sentenced to 5 years and 9 months in a penal colony under the article on hooliganism. According to the investigation, Miftakhov broke a window at a district United Russia office in Moscow and threw a smoke grenade inside.
