Head of the U.S. diplomatic mission in Ukraine Julie Davis will resign over disagreements with Trump — Financial Times

According to the words of three of the publication’s sources, Davis feels “frustration” with her work amid disagreements with U.S. President Donald Trump over the reduction of his support for Ukraine.

Davis had headed the U.S. diplomatic mission in Ukraine since May 2025. Her predecessor in the post, Bridget Brink, also resigned because of disagreement with Trump’s policy toward Ukraine. After leaving office, she expressed regret that, in an attempt to make peace, Trump chose to pressure the victim (Ukraine) rather than the aggressor (Russia).

American diplomats who spoke with the Financial Times noted that during Trump’s years in office, other colleagues whose work was connected to Ukraine also left or were fired. One diplomat said that those State Department employees who speak up in defense of Ukraine under Trump “become targets.”
