Authorities said they would not raise taxes. They broke the promise just days after the “elections”

On September 24, the Finance Ministry submitted a new budget package for next year to the government. Among the proposals are changes to how income from deposits, dividends, and property sales is taxed, the introduction of a 22% VAT on purchases from foreign online stores, and a fee on inexpensive parcels from abroad. Other new fees and excise taxes have also begun to be discussed, including on transportation, alcohol, and tobacco products.

At the same time, the Finance Ministry is not hiding where these taxes will go, and directly names financing “defense and security” as one of the budget’s strategic priorities.

The war is becoming more and more expensive, and Russians will be forced to pay for it again.
