In Peru, a recruiter was detained who sent his compatriots to war by promising high-paying jobs in Russia

In 2026, the focus of the Russian recruitment network shifted to Latin American countries, primarily Peru and Colombia.

An investigation by the journalistic program Cuarto Poder, together with the National Police of Peru, established that people were offered supposedly legal work as security guards and observers with a salary of $3000–5000 per month.

Their flight was fully paid for along the route Lima – Sao Paulo – Dubai – Moscow. To avoid raising suspicion, the recruiter referred to his own experience working abroad and convinced people that the offer was safe.

But after they arrived in Russia, everything changed.

People had their phones and documents taken away, depriving them of the ability to communicate normally with their relatives. After three days of basic training, they were sent to military units and assault operations.

In their last messages to their families, the recruited men wrote:

“We were told one thing, but in reality everything is different. There is no security work, we were sent to war”

Russia systematically uses foreigners, promising them jobs and high earnings and then sending them to fight against Ukraine. A system built on lies does not give a damn who it grinds up. Putin’s corrupt officials do not care whom they send to death, as long as they can hold on to power.
