Germany Says Russian Intelligence Organized the Attack on Defense Companies in Munich

On the night of September 3, 2026, in Munich, incendiary devices were thrown from a passing car onto the grounds of a construction site next to the main offices of the defense companies Rohde & Schwarz and Helsing. One of the projectiles caught fire near construction containers. No one was injured. Police soon detained the suspects: a 28-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man with Bulgarian citizenship.

According to the German investigation, the attack was organized by the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, known as the GRU. The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reports this.

According to the publication, at the same time as the arson attack in Munich, the GRU was preparing an attack on a plant belonging to the Ukrainian company Skyeton in the village of Haniska in Slovakia. In late August, Slovakia’s prosecutor’s office reported an attempted arson attack on a drone production plant. Three people were detained in the case: two Latvian citizens and a Ukrainian citizen.
